Day 3: Hike around Alpsee to see Neuschwanstein Castle, explore Füssen & optional yak farm tour with farm-to-table dinner
Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Bavaria, in southern Germany, sits at the foothills of the Alps and is home to the dreamy Neuschwanstein Castle—the 19th-century palace that inspired Disney’s Sleeping Beauty castle and iconic logo. Built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria alongside the nearby royal Hohenschwangau Castle constructed by his father, King Maximilian II, Neuschwanstein sits in the countryside like something out of a storybook. You’ll reach hiking-only viewpoints of the turreted white limestone castle—offering perspectives that most visitors never experience. Then it’s off to Füssen, just minutes away at the base of these landmarks. Dating back more than 2,000 years, Bavaria’s highest town is lined with medieval alleyways and pastel-colored shops renowned for violin manufacturing. For those seeking an authentic culinary adventure, tonight offers an optional farm-to-table dinner at a 500-year-old yak farm, where a certified herbalist will share the secrets of wild mountain herbs.

The magic happens when you reach the viewpoints overlooking Neuschwanstein Castle—Ludwig’s fairytale creation that was designed to outshine his father’s. - Hike a scenic loop around Alpsee lake to exclusive castle viewpoints that feel like stepping inside a living fairytale.
- Stroll through nearby Füssen, one of the most romantic medieval towns in Bavaria, during free time.

Today you’ll make the climb up to Olpererhütte, an alpine hut nestled nearly 7,500 feet above sea level in the heart of these magnificent peaks. Next, you’ll travel to the Salzburg region on the German side of the border, just a stone’s throw from the Austrian city where Mozart was born. In the afternoon, explore the city at your own pace, marveling at the old town’s medieval and baroque buildings or visiting one of the oldest inns in Europe, St Peter Stiftskulinarium, said to have been serving food for nearly 1,200 years.
