Unreal scenery and unforgettable adventure in the land of the fjords.
From quaint, Viking-era waterside villages to dramatic, glacier-carved valleys, Norway’s raw natural beauty is as extensive as its thousand-plus fjords. You’ll start your adventure in the gateway to fjord country, Bergen, whose ochre- and dandelion-colored old wooden homes that dot the thousand-year-old harbor inspired Disney’s Frozen. Get your first taste of Norway’s majestic mountains as you hike one of Bergen’s seven peaks, Mt. Fløyen. Feel the fresh sea breeze as you kayak through the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord, a narrow, practically pristine strip of water encased by staggering mountains on either side. Make your way to the Sognefjord region—home to Norway’s longest fjord—and get your adrenaline going on a glacier trek along Nigardsbreen Glacier’s striking blue ice. Then, experience firsthand why Voss is often referred to as the adventure capital of Norway as you zipline through the Flåm Valley, gravel bike along the twisting Rallarvegen road, and defy rapids on the pristine Raundalselva River. Stretch your legs after the long flight as you make your way around the UNESCO World Heritage Site’s narrow cobbled streets, lined with local artisan shops and galleries, before getting to know your fellow travelers over your first group dinner of the trip. Ease into Norway time and get ready to warm up your legs on tomorrow’s hike.

- Settle in for a short ferry ride to Fodnes, from where you’ll set off along the scenic Bjørgavegen Road.

Day 7: Ziplining & gravel biking through the Flåm Valley

After taking this train ride to the top of the valley, you’ll work your way back down in two very different ways- starting with a blood-rushing zipline flight. You’ll then cycle steep descents along the most popular cycling route in Norway, Rallarvegen, which runs alongside the Bergen railway. Then, it’s time to visit the tiny, namesake village of Flåm (population 350), whose roots date back to the 1300’s and reflect a charming, small-town culture molded by the lifestyle along the fjords. Its main claim to fame: one of Norway’s smallest stave churches.

Soak up views of Flåm Valley, where waterfalls flow like veins, plunging down on Scandinavia’s longest ziplining. You’ll reach impressive speeds up to 62 MPH as you race through the lush valley, cruising 4,531 feet to Kårdal, a mountain lodge that’s a favorite for hikers in the area. - Norway claims one of the world’s longest coastlines, and fresh seafood like king crab, salmon, and Atlantic cod (skrei) are world-renowned. Most of the traditional dishes feature lamb or mutton, including the national dish fårikål, a lamb stew with cabbage. Typical meals often incorporate grains, locally produced cheeses, fresh produce, and wild berries. Be sure to sample Norway’s version of Parma ham, fenalår (cured and dried leg of lamb), and the country’s signature sweet brown cheese, brunost. And don’t leave without treating yourself to a Norwegian-style waffle, or kos.
- Tips for meals, bus drivers, porterage (if applicable), and local guides for adventure activities are included in the price of your tour.

- Our extensive network of offices around the world, and our integration of ISO 31000: Risk Management Guidelines, help our dedicated 24/7 Emergency Service teams anticipate and address on-tour challenges in a flexible and iterative way.

- As needed, On Tour Support can facilitate additional support for travelers on tour, arrange assistance from outside specialists, and liaise with local and international authorities to help solve on-the-ground issues. - When you travel with EF Adventures, you’ll make a positive impact on the places you visit and the people and animals you meet along the way. That’s because our three core Responsible Travel commitments—protecting the environment, supporting local communities, and promoting animal welfare—are at the heart of every tour we offer.
- Travel, when done responsibly, can have an enormous socioeconomic impact on communities. To maximize your impact, eat at locally owned restaurants and shop at small businesses. Ask your Tour Director to point out restaurants they recommend.
- Prepare for your trip: Be aware of monetary norms such as tipping and negotiating in a market; learn about the destination’s forms of etiquette; and take some time to learn a few words in the local language.
- When interacting with locals, make sure to ask people for permission before you take their picture, and approach cultural differences with empathy and an open mind.
- EF Adventures encourages travelers to limit their waste while on the road, especially single-use plastics. You can cut back on generating plastic waste by packing your own toiletries, using electronic documents, and bringing a reusable water bottle and shopping bag. If you need to use plastics or paper, please recycle.
- When visiting national parks, reserves, or other protected areas, please do not remove anything from the natural environment or leave any litter. Carry out what you carried in.
- When you come across wild animals on tour, take the philosophies of World Animal Protection to heart: Don’t touch or feed them, and maintain a respectful distance. The animals you encounter on your trip should be able to exhibit natural forms of behavior.
- Furthermore, avoid buying exploitative animal products, like crafts made from tortoiseshell or meals such as shark fin soup.
- If you feel we aren’t meeting any of these commitments, please let us know.
