Feel Earth’s wonder—no spaceship required
Astronauts experience profound awe viewing Earth from space. Discover how hiking, kayaking, and biking create similar transformative moments—and inspire us to protect our planet.
When astronauts see our planet from space, they experience an intense sense of awe, appreciation, and understanding of the fragility of our planet. A newfound level of interconnectedness as invisible borders on Earth’s surface are replaced by a unified view of “home”—one that leads to a deeply emotional and permanent cognitive shift in their values known as the Overview Effect. Returning to Earth, many astronauts spend the remainder of their life working to solve social and environmental issues.

Whilst witnessing the planet from space is an experience most of us won’t share. There’s no doubt in our minds, that when we move through the planet, witnessing its vast beauty from high up on a mountain hiking trail in the Andes, kayaking beneath the mouth of a glacier in Iceland, or rolling along an endless ocean road in Spain, we experience our own “mini” overview effect. A love and appreciation for the magic that lives within our planet and a desire to protect it. We call it—Travel that moves you.
From adventure to action
Inspired by our travels, our tours are built on three fundamental pillars of Responsible Travel—protecting the environment, supporting local communities, and promoting animal welfare. Here’s some of our work in action.
A better future one step at a time

Collaborating with (non-profit organization) Trans Bhutan Trail, we help maintain the Trail itself and support the communities who live along it. Our Bhutan tour is also designed to be sustainable and low-impact, minimizing vehicle use, eliminating single-use plastics, and featuring meals made from locally sourced, organic produce.
Lifting up local economies

For us, traveling has always been about more than seeing places at their surface level. It’s about lifting up local economies, creating social opportunities, and preserving global cultures. Ways we do this on tour include dining at independently owned restaurants, partnering with organizations that preserve cultural heritage, and supporting businesses that employ local artisans and other staff members.
Setting the standard in animal welfare

Guided by our shared belief that exploring a new destination shouldn’t mean harming the animals that call it home, we implemented industry-leading animal welfare guidelines throughout our business. Our in-house team of animal lovers, covering all products in the EF portfolio, carefully vet every experience on tour on a regular basis.
