Absolutely no problem! Our tours are designed with flexibility in mind. Every itinerary includes structured group activities and plenty of free time. Want to join the afternoon bike ride? Great! Prefer to explore the local market solo or relax by the hotel pool? Perfect. Plus, as a solo traveler, your private room can be a peaceful retreat whenever you need to recharge, and our Tour Directors understand that part of solo travel is having the freedom to choose your own adventure.

While you are traveling solo, you’ll never be alone out there. You’re about to embark on an active adventure with like-minded travelers who share your curiosity and love for the outdoors. Plus, you’ll have your expert Tour Director guiding you every step of the way. Solo travel through active adventure is one of the most rewarding ways to discover both the world and yourself. Here are some important things to know before you go:

• Your Tour Director will meet you at your arrival destination and handle all logistics

• Our active adventures naturally bring solo travelers together through shared experiences

• Every activity—from mountain hikes to cultural cooking classes—is designed to create connections

• You can choose a physical activity level (Leisurely, Moderate, Intermediate, Challenging, or Advanced) that matches your fitness and comfort level

• Pack light and bring broken-in gear—you’ll be responsible for your own luggage during the tour

Safety is our top priority. You’ll have an expert Tour Director with you throughout your tour who’s trained in safety protocols and carries comprehensive first-aid kits. Plus, EF’s 60+ years of travel expertise and 24/7 global support network means we know how to keep solo travelers safe. We monitor conditions closely, maintain partnerships with local emergency services, and adjust itineraries as needed for your safety.

Solo travelers do pay a room supplement fee to secure a private room, which covers the cost of having your own space in our carefully selected 4 & 5-star hotels. We don’t offer roommate matching at this time, but most solo travelers prefer the privacy and flexibility of their own room.

Our active adventures are natural icebreakers! When you’re navigating mountain trails together, high fiving after a challenging climb, or learning traditional crafts from locals, authentic connections happen organically. Plus, our Tour Directors are experts at creating inclusive group dynamics where everyone feels welcomed and valued, regardless of travel experience.

Not at all. Our tours and are rated from Leisurely to Advanced, so you can choose the physical activity level that works for you. Many days on-tour also include options to customize your experience—take a slightly different route, skip the afternoon activity, or head off on your own to do something just for you. Your Tour Director ensures everyone feels supported and included, and we find that fellow travelers are incredibly encouraging and supportive of each other’s pace and abilities.
