Itinerary

Overnight flight

Day 1: Fly to Palma de Mallorca

Pack your sunscreen, cycling shorts, and your best “how is this place real?” face—then board your overnight flight to the beautiful Balearic Island of Mallorca.

Port de Pollença

Day 2: Arrival in Palma de Mallorca & transfer to Port de Pollença

Included meal: Welcome dinner

After touching down in Palma de Mallorca, the vibrant capital of the Balearic Islands, you’ll transfer about an hour to Port de Pollença in the island’s northern reaches. This charming coastal town, with its crescent-shaped bay and long, sandy beaches, offers a more laid-back atmosphere compared to the bustling south. Known for its crystal-clear waters and backdrop of the dramatic Tramuntana mountains, Port de Pollença is a cyclist’s paradise. The nearby Cap de Formentor peninsula, with its lighthouse and rugged cliffs, provides some of the most spectacular coastal rides in Mallorca. As you settle in, you'll quickly see why this region is a favorite training ground for professional cyclists and a beloved destination for beach-goers alike.

Today’s highlights
  • Meet an EF representative at the airport.
  • Transfer to your hotel in Port de Pollença (about 1 hour) to check in and explore your surroundings.
  • Raise a glass of beer or wine while you get to know your fellow riders and Tour Directors during a Welcome Orientation.
  • Enjoy a Welcome Dinner and toast to the adventure to come.

Note: Airport transfers are included for travelers who book flights with EF Adventures. If you book your own flights, airport transfers may be available for a fee upon request.

Palma de Mallorca extension

If you want to ease into the Mediterranean lifestyle before the riding begins, add 2 extra nights in Palma de Mallorca, the capital of the Balearic Islands. This city’s got something for everyone—an Old Town with cobblestone streets, a stunning Gothic cathedral, and more than a few tasty food options for you to sink your teeth into. Sounds like the perfect way to arrive before a week of cycling.

Overnight flight

Day 1: Fly to Palma de Mallorca

Board your overnight flight to Spain and get ready for a couple of days in Palma before your Mallorca cycling adventure begins.

Palma de Mallorca

Day 2: Arrival in Palma de Mallorca

You’ve made it to Mallorca. After checking in, Palma is yours to explore at your own pace—the waterfront promenade, the cathedral quarter, and the tapas bars of the old town are all within easy walking distance of each other. In the evening, you’ll meet your fellow travelers and Tour Director for a welcome drink to start things off right.

Today’s highlights
  • Arrive in Palma de Mallorca and transfer to your hotel.
  • Spend the afternoon exploring the city on your own—the old town, the waterfront, and the surrounding streets are all worth wandering.
  • Meet your fellow travelers and Tour Director for a Welcome Drink.

Day 3: Walking tour of Palma de Mallorca

Included meals: Breakfast, Tasting

Palma has been shaped by Romans, Moors, and Catalan kings, and a morning with a local guide is the best way to make sense of it all. You’ll work your way through the city’s highlights—La Seu’s soaring Gothic interior, the Royal Palace of La Almudaina (a Moorish fortress that became a royal residence), and the maze of streets in between—before stopping to try ensaimadas, the spiral-shaped, sugar-dusted pastries that have been a Mallorcan staple since the 17th century.

Today’s highlights
  • Join a local guide for a walking tour of Palma, taking in La Seu, the Royal Palace of La Almudaina, and the historic old town.
  • Sample ensaimadas, Mallorca’s iconic pastry, at an included tasting.
  • Spend the afternoon and evening exploring on your own—the Santa Catalina neighborhood and the waterfront are both worth a stroll.

Day 4: Optional Cuevas del Drach & winery experience or free day in Palma de Mallorca

Included meals: Breakfast, Welcome dinner

Your last morning in Palma is yours to do with as you please—browse boutiques in Santa Catalina, relax on the beach, or join the optional excursion to the Cuevas del Drach, one of Mallorca’s most spectacular natural sites. After the optional excursion or your free morning, you’ll meet up with the rest of your group to kick off the main tour.

Today’s highlights
  • Opt for the Cuevas del Drach excursion for a unique underground adventure followed by a wine tasting with lunch.
  • For those staying in the city, stroll through Palma de Mallorca’s charming old town with its narrow streets and hidden courtyards, or relax on Playa de Palma’s golden sands and explore the trendy Santa Catalina neighborhood.
  • Join the rest of your group en route to Port de Pollença.
  • Raise a glass of beer or wine during a meet-and-greet with your fellow adventurers during a Welcome Orientation with your Tour Directors.
  • Get a taste of local cuisine at your Welcome Dinner.

Note: While today is officially Day 4 of your pre-extension, when you meet up with the rest of the Mallorca Biking group, they will be on Day 2. For consistency, once you join the group, you will also be on Day 2.
