Rolling hills meet Tour de France thrills

In 2026, the Tour de France begins in Barcelona for the first time ever—and you’ll experience the Grand Départ from the inside. You’ll start in Girona, the adopted home of professional cyclists from around the world, riding roads that have drawn cycling’s elite for generations—tackling challenging climbs like Els Àngels and Mare de Déu del Mont, circling the serene shores of Lake Banyoles, and getting rare access to the EF Pro Cycling Service Course, the World Tour team’s operations hub where race bikes are prepped and logistics are coordinated. From there, you’ll head to the L’Escala region on the Mediterranean coast, descending into the medieval coastal town of Tossa de Mar along Costa Brava’s dramatic cliffs. Then it’s on to Barcelona for two unforgettable days of Tour de France experiences. First, you’ll get exclusive access to the Stage 1 Starting Village, where you can tour the EF Pro Cycling Team bus and watch the world’s greatest riders prepare for cycling’s most prestigious race. The next day, you’ll ride the official Stage 2 course up Montjuïc—the same roads, the same gradients, the same switchbacks the pros will tackle hours later—before crossing the actual finish line and watching the stage finale from VIP grandstand seating. Between rides, you’ll explore medieval villages, tour Salvador Dalí’s castle in Púbol, taste wines from family vineyards, and discover why Catalonia has become the training ground for pro riders. This is where your passion for cycling meets the spectacle of the Tour de France.

Barcelona extension

You’ve already experienced Barcelona’s medieval side and witnessed the Grand Départ excitement—now extend your trip to dive deeper into the city’s architectural wonders and Catalan culture. Spend your days exploring Gaudí’s whimsical creations, from the mosaic-filled Park Güell to the awe-inspiring Sagrada Família, where construction continues toward the architect’s visionary dream more than a century after his death. Take an optional day trip to Montserrat or immerse yourself in the passionate rhythms of flamenco during an evening show. With extra time to wander Barcelona’s neighborhoods, discover hidden plazas, sample tapas at local bars, and soak in the relaxed rhythm of Mediterranean life, you’ll understand why this city has captivated artists, architects, and travelers for generations.

Barcelona

Day 10: Park Güell & La Sagrada Familia walking tours and optional flamenco show with dinner

Included meal: Breakfast

Today, you’ll step deeper into the imaginative world of Antoni Gaudí, Barcelona’s most famous architect and the creative genius behind some of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Both Park Güell and La Sagrada Família showcase Gaudí’s unique vision—where nature, spirituality, and architectural innovation merge into something truly extraordinary. You’ll start at Park Güell, perched on Barcelona’s Carmel Hill, where your guide will lead you through the vibrant, mosaic-filled wonderland Gaudí created for his friend, Count Güell. Then, you’ll visit the soaring spires of La Sagrada Família, Gaudí’s unfinished masterpiece, where towering columns branch into a kaleidoscope of color as sunlight streams through stained-glass windows. In the evening, join the optional flamenco show & dinner for a taste of Spanish flair, or continue exploring the city on your own.

Today’s highlights
  • Explore Gaudí’s Park Güell with a guide, discovering the famous Dragon Staircase, the Hypostyle Room with its forest of columns, and the Nature Square with panoramic views over Barcelona.
  • Step inside La Sagrada Família, where the basilica opens like a forest of stone bathed in ethereal light.
  • Opt to spend the evening watching a traditional flamenco show with dinner—or soak up the city’s vibrant nightlife and award-winning restaurants on your own.

Day 11: Optional Montserrat day trip or free day in Barcelona

Included meal: Breakfast

Today is yours to shape. You can join the optional excursion to Montserrat, where a Benedictine monastery sits perched among the dramatic, jagged peaks of Catalonia’s most sacred mountain. The mountain rises from the plains northwest of Barcelona, its distinctive rock formations visible for miles. Or, stay in Barcelona for a free day to explore at your own pace—perhaps visiting the Picasso Museum, wandering through La Boqueria market, or relaxing at Barceloneta beach.

Today’s highlights
  • Choose how to spend your final full day in Barcelona—either joining the optional excursion to Montserrat or exploring the city at your leisure.
  • Savor your last evening in Barcelona—whether that means tapas in a bustling neighborhood or simply reflecting on the week's adventures.

Flight home

Day 12: Fly home
