The time has come to put it all to use. Double check you have everything you need for the week ahead and make your way to the airport for your flight to Phoenix, where you’ll whisk off to your first destination of the trip: the Sedona region. This desert town is famous for its rust-colored rock buttes (hills with steep, vertical sides), cascading canyon walls, and cacti-covered trails. Feel the strong spiritual energy believed to radiate from Sedona’s famous vortex sites. Sedona is also a huge wellness hub, a place to disconnect in nature while also soaking up the bohemian community’s eclectic art scene.

Today’s highlights
  • Meet an EF representative at the Phoenix airport.
  • Transfer to your hotel in the Sedona region (2 hours) to check in and get acquainted with your new surroundings.
  • Toast with a glass of beer or wine while getting to know your fellow hikers and Tour Director during a Welcome Orientation.
  • Keep the conversation flowing during a Welcome Dinner at a local restaurant.

Note: Airport transfers are included for travelers who book flights with EF Adventures. If you book your own flights, airport transfers may be available for a fee upon request.

Day 2: Bell Rock & Courthouse Butte hike & visit to Sedona

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Today is all about exploring red-rock country at its finest. You’ll wind your way around Bell Rock—named for its unmistakable bell-like silhouette and one of Sedona’s most famous vortex sites, believed to radiate upward spiritual energy—before continuing to the Courthouse Butte viewpoint, where a massive mesa-like formation towers above the desert floor at over 5,400 feet. The trail weaves through nine layers of ancient stone, formed over millions of years of seabeds, volcanic activity, and erosion, with sweeping views of Cathedral Rock—one of Arizona’s most photographed landmarks—along the way. Back in town, you’ll have time to stroll Sedona’s gallery-lined streets and browse local shops before a group lunch featuring classic Southwestern fare.

Zion National Park region extension

You've seen a few of the highlights Zion has to offer—so why not dive deeper? Over the next two days, you'll return to the park for a full day of self-guided exploration along trails like Pa'rus, the Narrows, and the Emerald Pools, watching sunlight bounce off the surrounding peaks and pinnacles at your own pace. Then it's off to Bryce Canyon National Park for a guided hike through its crimson-colored hoodoos, slot canyons, and natural bridges—a landscape so otherworldly it barely seems real. And when you're ready to sit back and soak up the scenery, there's a pool with your name on it at your Springdale hotel, which will feel like your very own luxe log cabin nestled beneath Zion's rose-hued cliffs.

Day 7: Return to Zion National Park

Included meal: Breakfast

One day in Zion didn’t feel like enough, huh? Lucky for you, you’re heading right back—but this time you can choose your own adventure. You’ll have most of the day to explore at your own pace. Wade through the Virgin River between towering sandstone cliffs on the Narrows hike, the narrowest part of Zion Canyon. Or, set off along the Emerald Pools trail, which follows a stream to a series of pools surrounded by boulder foothills and sheer cliffs. With more than a hundred trails in the park, today’s options are practically endless—and no matter which you choose, you’re guaranteed jaw-droppingly beautiful views.

Today’s highlights
  • Take advantage of another day in incredible Zion National Park, pursuing whatever adventure best suits you.
  • Rest your legs and relax during a free evening in Springdale, home to Native art, local crafts, and fine art galleries.

Day 8: Day trip to Bryce Canyon National Park

Included meal: Breakfast

Today you'll venture to Bryce Canyon National Park—a completely different landscape from anything you've seen this week. At soaring elevations of 8,000 to 9,000 feet, the park's signature hoodoos rise from the amphitheater floor in dense forests of pink, orange, and white spires, carved by centuries of freeze-thaw erosion into formations that seem almost impossibly delicate. Your hike follows the Navajo Trail and Queen's Garden loop, beginning at Sunrise Point before plunging down into the canyon via the Navajo Loop's Wall Street section—a narrow slot canyon where towering walls close in on either side and tall Douglas firs stretch upward for light. The trail winds through the amphitheater floor past Thor's Hammer and into Queen's Garden, where sculpted spires surround a formation said to resemble Queen Victoria herself, before climbing back to the rim at Sunrise Point. It's a loop that packs the full drama of Bryce Canyon into a single, unforgettable morning.
