Eleanor Foerste, a third-generation Floridian, has been conducting environmental education experiences for both youth and adults for more than 40 years. Foerste graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree. She recently retired from University of Florida IFAS Extension in Osceola County, after 36 years, where she helped many residents learn about a variety of home gardening, landscape and natural resources issues as well as personal actions for sustainable living. Foerste continues her mission to inspire participants to move from awareness to action through outdoor experiences. She began offering “Woods Walks”, nature tours in local natural areas, and modified experiences when differently-abled individuals wanted to experience and learn about our local ecosystems. Through Eleanor Foerste Adventures, LLC, she also conducts “Walk and Roll” nature tours on accessible trails for individuals that are handi-capable and their families. She has written and managed grants, written numerous newspaper columns and newsletter articles and created educational supplements published in local newspapers. Foerste also conducts team building activities and lessons for home-school and 4-H youth.
